Farhana Mather
Managing Partner

Associate ConsultantFarhana has worked in higher education for over eighteen years specifically in the areas of university advancement, strategic planning, internationalization, and international alliance and partnership building. She has worked extensively with corporations and foundations in Canada and the U.S. in philanthropic support of higher education initiatives. Farhana has been the Senior Executive Director of Development for McGill University where she was responsible for leading the overall development operation and advancing the University's philanthropic and research efforts with individuals, foundations and corporations in North America and abroad. She has deep expertise in campaign planning (helping plan for McGill’s most recent $750M campaign), in foundation and corporate relations, prospect management and donor research, advancement information systems, and campaign and advancement operational financing.

Farhana has also been the Director of International Research at the University of Toronto where she led the development of strategic international partnerships and university internationalization. She has built successful international partnerships between universities in Canada, the U.S., Europe, India, Latin America, China, Africa and the Caribbean and helped to secure tens of millions of dollars in development aid funding.

Farhana is a regular speaker and panelist at conferences worldwide and has published numerous articles in her field. She has conducted extensive research in the areas of corporate social responsibility (CSR), corporate philanthropy, university-corporate relations, internationalization and advancement. A native of South Africa, Farhana grew up in Toronto, lived in Montreal for many years and is now based in Savannah, Georgia. She holds a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada and an M.Ed with a specialization in Higher Education from the University of Toronto.

Allan Schweyer

Associate ConsultantAllan Schweyer is a Mather Leigh founder and partner. Trained as a labor market economist at Windsor and Harvard, he is a senior researcher, analyst and consultant servicing large private and public sector clients worldwide including award-winning solutions and programs for Industry Canada, The Human Capital Institute, Reed-Elsevier and the World Bank. Allan contributes to Mather Leigh as head of its research, analysis and alternative giving divisions. Allan is also responsible for advancing Mather Leigh’s training programs. Allan speaks at events and conferences around the world. He is author or co-author of several books. His articles and white papers appear in dozens of popular media and publications worldwide.

 

Jacqueline Scott

Associate ConsultantJacqueline has 20 years experience in major giving, planned giving, annual giving, board governance and administration. She joined the Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation in 1995 and was appointed Executive Director in 1999. During her tenure at the helm of the Foundation, Jacqueline doubled revenues and was instrumental in creating a number of new initiatives that helped to increase the donor base and raise the profile of the RVH Foundation. Jacqueline was instrumental in obtaining substantial gifts that supported clinical, research and academic activities such as the Hospital's Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and first MRI and MR Simulator. Jacqueline played a leadership role in raising funds for the establishment of the Umbilical Cord Stem Cell Bank at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), as well as the Hospital’s Psycho-Oncology Program.

Jacqueline was an active participant in the $300 million Best Care for Life capital campaign for the MUHC.  Before joining the Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation, Jacqueline was the Development Associate for the faculties of Arts and Science at McGill University.  In this capacity, she raised major gifts in support of the McGill Twenty-First Century Fund capital campaign.

Prior to her work in the philanthropic sector, Jacqueline worked in Ottawa for a number of federal cabinet ministers. 

Jacqueline is fluently bilingual and obtained her CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) designation in 2003.  She is a founding board member of the Art for Healing Foundation, and in 2011 was appointed to the jury of the Governor General's Awards in Commemoration of the Persons Case for a period of three years.  She holds a B.A. from Bishop's University. 

Roger Martin
Senior Consultant

Associate ConsultantRoger has been involved in university and college fundraising for almost forty years, twenty of them as president of two liberal arts colleges in the United States, Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia. Before becoming a college president, Roger was Associate Dean for Administration and Planning at Harvard University's Divinity School where, among other administrative and teaching responsibilities, he had oversight of the development office and represented the Divinity School in Harvard's 350th Anniversary Campaign. He also held development and faculty positions at New York University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Middlebury College. Roger has extensive experience in international fundraising and grantsmanship: He was the co-founder of the Lincoln College, Oxford Alumni Association in 1975, and today is a member of the Oxford University Planned Giving Committee and a director of the British Schools and Universities Foundation. Roger received his B.A. from Drew University, B.D. from Yale University and D.Phil. from Oxford University. He also attended the University of Edinburgh.
